SARN 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

The Southern Anti-Racism Network (SARN) is celebrated 10 years of community organizing in Durham. The main event was June 25, 6pm at the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville Street in Durham.
 
The theme was "Reliable Allies in the Struggle to End Racial Disparities". Bob Zellner, reliable ally of SNCC civil rights fame was the keynote speaker.
 
Recipients of the first SARN "Reliable Ally" awards have shown consistency, commitment and courage in the giving of their time, talent and treasure to end racial disparities in health care, criminal justice, economic opportunities, civic engagement, education, community safety, international human rights and access to housing.
 
Honorees include Al McSurely, Mike Woodard, Evelyn Schmidt, Paul Luebke, Marcia Owen, Lonna & Richard Harkrader, Peter Skillern, Steve Schewel, Tema Okun, Steve Bloom, Anne Wolfley, John Parker, Beth Brockman.
 
On June 26, Bob Zellner read and signed copies of his new book, "The Wrong Side of Murder Creek", at The Regulator Bookshop, 720 Ninth Street in Durham, 1-3pm.
